Helena W. Rodbard, MD, FACP, MACE received the Yank D. Coble, Jr., MD, Distinguished Service Award at the AACE 21st Annual Scientific & Clinical Congress in Philadelphia, on May 27, 2012.

The Yank D. Coble, Jr., MD, Distinguished Service Awardis given to a Clinical Endocrinologist who is recognized by his or her peers as a leader in American medicine and whose personal and professional conduct reflect the values and vision of AACE.

“It is a great honor to receive the Yank D. Coble Leadership Award. Yank Coble is the person with the vision, drive and energy to have founded AACE and has been its guiding light for so many years,” Dr. Rodbard explains. “I have been involved with AACE since the very first organizational meeting and I have had the privilege and honor of participating in the growth of the organization, from the initial steering committee to the presidency,” she continues, “as well as serving as the Chair of the Publication Committee, contributing to the selection of the program for the annual meeting, helping the Association and College collaborate effectively with other medical organizations and responding to the ever-present challenges to the practice of medicine and endocrinology.”

Dr. Rodbard has served on the faculties of Georgetown University Medical School and George Washington University Medical Center as well as the Board of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. She has lectured extensively regarding diabetes and other endocrine disorders, both nationally and internationally. Also,Dr. Rodbard is engaged in a very active, well-established and highly-respected private practice of endocrinology with a focus on diabetes and metabolic disorders. She has been consistently listed in Best Doctors in America and Best Doctors in Washington, DC.
