Shashank R. Joshi, MD, FACP, FRCP, FACE received the International Clinician Award at the AACE 21st Annual Scientific & Clinical Congress in Philadelphia, on May 27, 2012.

The International Clinician Awardis given to a clinical endocrinologist practicing outside of the US in recognition of delivering outstanding care to endocrine patients; delivering care to a population of patients with endocrine problems; developing a system of care for an endocrine problem; organizing clinical endocrinologists; effecting social changes that lead to improved care for the endocrine patient; and educating the public and endocrine problems.

“It is an honor to be recognized by ACE, a global Endocrinology organization, for my work related to teaching, research and clinical care in India, especially in the endocrine sciences,” said Dr. Joshi. “ACE has been an inspiration to me due to its evidence-based approach for clinical endocrinologists, which is not only applicable in the USA but also in different parts of the world including Asia and India. I will strive to continue excellence in the field of endocrinology.”

Dr. Joshi is a Faculty of Endocrinology at Grant Medical College and is a Consulting Endocrinologist at Lilavati Hospital, Mumbai, India, and his private practice is at Joshi Clinic. Dr. Joshi is the President of Indian Academy of Diabetes, Past President of Research Society for the Study of Diabetes in India (RSSDI) and All India Association of Advancing Research in Obesity. He is the Vice President of the Association of Physicians of India. Dr. Joshi graduated from Grant Medical College & Sir JJ Group of Hospitals (MBBS), and completed his residency in Internal Medicine with Gold Medals and First Rank for excellence. He did his Endocrine fellowship training at Seth GS Medical College and KEM Hospital, Mumbai, India.
