Longtime Costa Rican Endocrinologist to Receive AACE International Clinician Award

José G. Jiménez-Montero, MD, FACE, will receive the 2017 International Clinician Award on Saturday, May 6, during the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists (AACE) 26th Annual Scientific & Clinical Congress in Austin, Texas.

The International Clinician Award is given to an AACE member who is a clinical endocrinologist practicing outside of the U.S., and in recognition of dedicated and compassionate care provided to patients with endocrine diseases. Recipients possess an exceptional knowledge and expertise in the field of clinical endocrinology and active advocacy AACEs mission in both professional and public environments.

I am very proud and honored to receive this highly prestigious award from the leading scientific association in the field of clinical endocrinology and metabolism,” said Dr. Jiménez-Montero.

Dr. Jiménez-Montero is Dean of Post Graduate Studies at the University of Ciencias Médicas, Professor of Endocrinology Fellowship Program at the University of Costa Rica, and endocrinologists at Hospital CIMA.

He earned his medical degree from the School of Medicine, University of Costa Rica. He has authored and co-authored more than 50 publications in international and national peer-reviewed journals. He is Past President of the Costa Rica Society of Endocrinology, the Costa Rica AACE Chapter, and was a member of the AACE International Committee.

In 2015, he participated in the Pan-American Workshop hosted by AACE/ACE for the Transculturalization Recommendations for Developing Latin American Clinical Practice Algorithms in Endocrinology, Proceedings.
