Indiana Endocrinologist Presented MACE Distinction

C. Conrad Johnston, Jr., MD, FACP, FACE received the Master of the American College of Endocrinology distinction at the AACE 21st Annual Scientific & Clinical Congress in Philadelphia, on May 27, 2012.

The Master of the American College of Endocrinology (MACE) distinctionis given to an AACE member who has received FACE distinction, is recognized as a distinguished practicing endocrinologist as well as a role model for developing endocrinologists and contributor to AACE and to the art and science of Endocrinology.

“I had the privilege of serving on the founding Board of AACE and it is gratifying to see the significant contributions to clinical endocrinology that have been made by the organization,” Dr. Johnston said. “It is indeed a great honor to become a Master of the College of Endocrinology.”

Currently, Dr. Johnston is a Distinguished Professor at Indiana University School of Medicine, Indianapolis.

Dr. Johnston earned his undergraduate and graduate degrees from Duke University, and then completed a postdoctoral internship in medicine at Duke Hospital. He went on to do his residency at Barnes Hospital, and then completed a research fellowship in endocrinology and metabolism at Indiana University School of Medicine. From 1961 to 1963, Dr. Johnston was an instructor of medicine at Indiana University School of Medicine, where he subsequently served as an assistant professor, associate professor, and professor of medicine. In 1997, he was awarded the position of Distinguished Professor. Dr. Johnston was the director of the Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism at Indiana University Medical Center from 1968 to 1994.
