"Patient-Centered Care of the Patient with Obesity"

With obesity in the U.S. now a public health crisis affecting almost 40 percent of adult Americans over the age of 20, the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists has responded with the creation of an in-depth online resource center for medical professionals involved in the care of patients with obesity.

Crafted by AACE member physicians with special expertise in treating patients with obesity, the Obesity Resource Center website (http://obesity.aace.com/) addresses the rapidly evolving landscape of obesity science and pharmacotherapy, offering complications-centric strategies for improved long-term treatment and maintenance of patient weight loss.

Featured on the site are the latest AACE obesity clinical practice guidelines and obesity care algorithm; a comprehensive library of informational slides covering topics from anthropometric and clinical evaluation to epidemiology, disease complications and bariatric surgery; an educational toolkit containing patient history, assessment, planning, tracking and behavior modification tools; and information on obesity-related coding and billing.

The AACE Obesity Resource Center also offers an online-accessible CME course, “Patient-Centered Care of the Patient with Obesity” (http://obesity.aace.com/continuing-medical-education), with live activities planned for the near future.
