California Physician Installed as President of the American College of Endocrinology

LAS VEGAS—(May 17, 2014)— Yehuda Handelsman, M.D., F.A.C.P., F.A.C.E., F.N.L.A. was installed as President of the American College of Endocrinology (ACE) at the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists (AACE) 22nd Annual Scientific and Clinical Congress in Las Vegas on May 17, 2014.

As ACE President, Dr. Handelsman will preside over all meetings of ACE and the Board of Trustees. He or his designate will act as the principal spokesperson for the College.

Dr. Handelsman is an endocrinologist in solo private practice, the medical director and principal investigator of the Metabolic Institute of America in Tarzana, California. He is a nationally and internationally recognized authority on cardio-metabolic conditions: diabetes, insulin resistance, obesity, metabolic syndrome, pre-diabetes, lipid disorders, and hypertension. He is a pioneer and leader in the understanding of the clinical implications of the body’s metabolic and energy systems. A clinician, researcher, and educator, Dr. Handelsman publishes and lectures extensively, focusing on comprehensive approaches to managing diabetes, controlling obesity, hypertension, lipids, and the prevention of kidney disease and cardiovascular disease. He has been listed repeatedly in “Top Doctors of Los Angeles”, “Southern California Super Doctors” and “Best Doctors of America.”

Handelsman is a past President of AACE and is Chair of the AACE Diabetes Scientific Committee and the Lipid Scientific Committee. He has been chair, member, co-author, and reviewer of many of AACE/ACE national guidelines, algorithms, consensus and position statements on obesity, diabetes & cancer, insulin resistance, pre-diabetes, diabetes, lipids, and hypertension.

He is chair, founder & program director of the annual World Congress on Insulin Resistance, Diabetes & Cardiovascular Disease and chair of the international committee for insulin resistance, as well as Associate Editor of the Journal of Diabetes and is a frequent guest editor for publications such as the Journal of Clinical Hypertension.
