Illinois-Based Physician Installed as President of National Endocrinology Association

Pauline  Camacho, MD, FACE, was elected President of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists (AACE) at its 25th Annual Scientific & Clinical Congress in Orlando, Florida on Saturday, May 28.

In her new role, Dr. Camacho will lead the world’s largest clinical endocrinology association with more than 7,000 members from more than 90 countries, serving on the Association’s Executive Committee and Board of Directors.

“Since its inception 25 years ago, AACE has enhanced the practice of endocrinology immeasurably, however, our work at AACE is just beginning,” said Dr. Camacho. “As president, I look forward to supporting efforts that support the clinical activities of domestic and international endocrinologists, other physicians and allied healthcare personnel, as well as advocate for our patients.”

Dr. Camacho is an endocrinologist at Loyola University Medical Center in Illinois, and  serves as Professor of Medicine, Director of the Osteoporosis and Metabolic Bone Disease Center, and the Program Director for the Endocrinology Fellowship Program at Loyola University.

Dr. Camacho has been actively involved in AACE since her fellowship, having served as  the Fellow-in-Training (FIT) representative  from 1999-2000. In 2003, she was elected to the AACE Board of Directors. 

She has chaired numerous AACE committees and has served on  the AACE Annual Meeting Clinical Congress Program Committee for nine years.   

Her work on behalf of the American College of Endocrinology (ACE) – the scientific, educational and charitable arm of AACE – includes  membership in the College Foundation Task Force and serving two terms on the ACE Board of Trustees.
