Los Angeles Based Physician Elected President Elect of Major Physician Organization

SAN DIEGO—April 18, 2011— Etie S. Moghissi, MD, FACP, FACE, was elected President Elect of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists (AACE) at its 20th Annual Meeting and Clinical Congress in San Diego, on Saturday, April 16, 2011.
 
“As a charter member of AACE and a member of the Board of Directors of AACE, I have closely witnessed the growth and impact of the organization. I am convinced that the success of AACE is the direct result of the vision, sacrifice, and selflessness of its leaders and its staff,” Dr. Moghissi said. “I pledge to uphold these traditions and will continue my passionate dedication to AACE, its members, and the patients we serve.” 

As President Elect, Dr. Moghissi will serve as an executive officer of AACE who supports the President in all matters of the association, and will assume the duties of the AACE President in the event that the President is unable to act. Dr. Moghissi will also serve on the Association’s Executive Committee and Board of Directors.
 
As a native of Shiraz, Iran, Dr. Moghissi received her medical degree from Pahlavi University, School of Medicine in Shiraz, where she also completed her internship and two years of residency in Internal Medicine.  In addition, she completed her fellowship in Endocrinology at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles.  Dr. Moghissi is Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles. She also operates a private endocrinology practice in Marina Del Rey, California. Dr. Moghissi is a charter member of AACE and has served the Association in leadership positions since 2000 including Vice President in 2010. She is actively involved in professional education and is a frequent lecturer nationally and internationally in the field of diabetes.
