Dr. David S. H. Bell is a native of Northern Ireland where he graduated from Queen's University Medical School. His endocrine training was at the Royal Victoria Hospital Belfast, N. Ireland, University of Saskatchewan Canada and Greater Baltimore Medical Center and Johns Hopkins. Following his training, he was an Associate Professor of Medicine at Temple University Medical School for two years and a Professor of Medicine for 25 years at the University of Alabama Medical School. He currently is a practicing endocrinologist in Mountain Brook, AL.
Dr. Bell has published 315 articles in referenced medical journals and four books includingDiet For Life, the story of his own battle with obesity. He is also a reviewer for multiple journals and has served on multiple editorial boards, includingEndocrine Practice. In 2001, he received the Distinguished Clinician award from the American College of Endocrinology for outstanding contributions as a master educator and clinician. In 2002, he was awarded the Southern Medical Association's Seale Harris award for superior contributions to the art and science of diabetes and endocrinology. He frequently participates in CME in the US and worldwide he has participated in physician education in 15 countries from India to New Zealand.
