Dr. Daniel L. Hurley is the current AACE Vice President and a member of the AACE Executive Committee. He has also served two prior consecutive three-year terms on the AACE Board of Directors, as well as serving on multiple AACE/ACE committees to include Finance Committee chair, Program Planning Committee member and past Co-Chair for the AACE Clinical Congress, member and past Chair of the Nutrition Scientific Committee, past Chair of the Academic Endocrinologists Committee, and past Chair of the Chapters Committee. Dr. Hurley has served on the Endocrine Training and Support Committee and is a member of the planning committee for Endocrine University®.
Dr. Hurley completed both his Internal Medicine Residency and Endocrinology Fellowship at the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine, where he was awarded the Randall G. Sprague Award for Outstanding Achievement as an Endocrine Fellow. He joined the Mayo Staff in 1986, and is a Consultant in the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes, Metabolism, and Nutrition, as well as Assistant Professor of Medicine at Mayo Medical School. He is an executive member of the Mayo Program on Professionalism and Values and co-director for Effective Communication-in-Healthcare simulation skills workshop at Mayo Clinic.
Dr. Hurley’s primary clinical interests are metabolic bone disease and nutrition in health and disease. He has served as a past member of the American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (ASPEN) and as a member and chair of the American Society of Bone and Mineral (ASBMR) Adult Bone and Mineral Working Group. Dr. Hurley was been appointed to the President’s Council on Fitness, Sports, and Nutrition Science Board for 2014-2016.
