Dr. Abraham attended medical school in India and graduated from the University of Madras. He underwent post-graduate training and was awarded MRCP (UK) by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons in London, England. He completed residency and fellowship training at the University of Utah and the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN, respectively.
He holds the ranks of Professor of Medicine and Adjunct Professor of Surgery and Pathology at the University of Utah. He also serves as Medical Director of Utah Diabetes and Endocrinology Center in Salt Lake City, and is the Medical Director for the Thyroid and Parathyroid Tumor Program at Huntsman Cancer Institute also in Salt Lake City.
He has a passion for medical education and has been involved in medical student, residency, and fellowship teaching locally and nationally. He has served as the course director for endocrine physiology at the University of Utah.
Presently, Dr. Abraham serves as Chair of the Thyroidology Educational Committee for AACE. He developed a gelatin-based, low-cost phantom for fellowship ultrasound training, which is used in the U.S., training of fellows at Endocrine University® and other AACE/ACE U.S. courses, and has served on numerous committees for AACE throughout the years.
