    Chair of the University of Alabama at Birmingham’s (UAB) Department of Nutrition Sciences and Director and Principal Investigator of the UAB Diabetes Research Center since 2008, Dr. Timothy Garvey has extensive experience in the academic health sciences as a scientist, administrative leader and an educator.

    Laurence A. Gavin, M.D., FACP, FRCP, FACE, is Clinical Professor of Medicine, University of California San Francisco (UCSF). He is in private practice (Comprehensive Diabetes-Endocrine Medical Associates, Inc.) in the San Francisco Bay Area (1992 to present). He is Medical Director of the Northern California Diabetes Institute at Seton Medical Center and Sequoia Hospital. Dr. Gavin served his fellowship in Diabetes-Endocrinology and Metabolism at the UCSF medical center from 1974 - 1977. He was a full-time faculty member from 1978 – 1992 and achieved the rank of Professor of Medicine.

    Dr. J. Michael Gonzalez-Campoy is Medical Director and CEO of the Minnesota Center for Obesity, Metabolism and Endocrinology (MNCOME). He is a recognized national expert on diabetes and obesity and a proponent of adiposopathy as a treatment target. Dr. Gonzalez-Campoy is Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Minnesota. He is board certified in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism, joined the Board of Directors of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists in 2005, and has been a member of the Board of Directors of the American College of Endocrinology.

    Dr. Gossain is the Swartz Professor of Medicine of the Division of Endocrinology & Metabolism, Michigan State University (MSU). He received his basic medical degree (MBBS) from Medical College Amritsar and his postdoctoral degree in medicine (MD) from All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, India.

    Dr. Richard Haas has been a member of the Diabetes Division of the UMass Memorial Medical Group since November of 2012. Prior to joining UMass, he had been in solo private practice of endocrinology in Worcester, MA for thirty years. After attending medical school at the University of California San Francisco, he completed an internal medicine residency at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City and then a fellowship in endocrinology at the Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center, also in New York.

    Carlos R. Hamilton, Jr., MD, FACP, FACE, will be presented the Master of the American College of Endocrinology (MACE). Dr. Hamilton is Special Advisor to the President and Professor of Medicine at The University of Texas Health Science Center - Houston where he has an active practice of clinical endocrinology.
     
    He is the fourth generation of Texas physicians and his son, an interventional radiologist is the fifth. Dr. Hamilton has one daughter, an attorney and wife of the Texas Lt. Governor.
