Howard S. Weintraub, M.D., F.A.C.C. is Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine at New York University School of Medicine in New York, New York.

After receiving his medical degree from New York University School of Medicine, Dr. Weintraub completed a residency in Internal Medicine at the NYU-Bellevue Hospitals Center. He was a clinical fellow in Pulmonary Diseases and in Cardiovascular Diseases at New York University Medicine Center. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Diseases, and is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology. He has also been a consultant for several organizations.

He is currently the Clinical Director of the Center for the Prevention of Cardiovascular Disease at the New York University Medical Center. Before assuming this position he was the Associate Director of the Cardiac Exercise Laboratory at NYU Medical Center.

Dr. Weintraub has written textbook chapters on the evaluation and treatment of patients prior to non-cardiac surgery. He has also authored several articles on endothelial function and multiple risk factor reduction. He has been named to the editorial board of Cardiology Review and is a manuscript reviewer for The American Journal of Cardiology; Atherosclerosis, Thrombosis and Vascular Biology; Cardiology and Metabolism. He has been an invited lecturer at many academic institutions and has been a visiting professor at Emory Medical School and Strong Memorial Hospital, University of Rochester School of Medicine and Drexel University School of Medicine in Philadelphia. Dr. Weintraub is a member of the Council of Atherosclerosis, Thrombosis and Vascular Biology of the American Heart Association. He is a senior faculty member of the Vascular Biology Working Group. He is currently involved in several clinical studies that focus on the treatment of multiple cardiac risks in patients with hyperlipidemia and hypertension as well as those with the Metabolic Syndrome.

Dr. Weintraub's principal interests are the impact of risk factors such as hyperlipidemia and hypertension on endothelial function and the development of atherosclerosis. He is increasingly focused on the identification and treatment of patients with Type II Diabetes and Metabolic Syndrome. In his practice of clinical cardiology he specializes in the prevention of atherosclerosis and the treatment of disorders of lipid metabolism, hypertension and cardiovascular disease. As well as exercise stress testing with echocardiographic imaging and Carotid Artery Imaging (IMT).
