Jordanian Scientist receives award from medical association for international care


Orlando, FL-- Kamel Ajlouni, MD, FACE was presented the International Clinician Award by the American College of Endocrinology (ACE) at its Seventeenth Annual Meeting and Clinical Congress in Orlando, FL, on Saturday, May 17, 2008.

The International Clinician Award is presented to a clinical endocrinologist practicing outside the United States for clinical work in endocrinology in recognition of providing outstanding care to endocrine patients.

“It is with great gratitude that I accept the International Clinician Award from the American College of Endocrinology,” said Dr. Ajlouni “I have enjoyed the privilege of providing care to patients with endocrine disorders in Jordan and taking that knowledge to empower other physicians internationally. Fortunately, the language of medicine is universal.”

About Kamel Ajlouni, MD, FACE
Dr. Ajlouni is President of the National Center for Diabetes Endocrinology & Genetics in Amman, Jordan. He attended Rashidiah College in Jerusalem and Hussein College in Amman, Jordan. Dr. Ajlouni received a medical degree from the University of Heidelberg in Germany and an Honorary Doctorate in Law from the University of Windsor in Canada. Dr. Ajlouni began a rotating internship at the University of Heidelberg and Stuttgart City Hospital and an internal medicine residency at St. Ursula Hospital in Boppard, Rhein. He completed his medical training in the United States with an internship and residency at Mercy Hospital in Buffalo, New York, and a residency and fellowship of endocrinology at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee.

Dr. Ajlouni has served in many public offices, including Minister of Health of Jordan, President of the Jordan Medical Council, President of the Jordan University of Science and Technology, President of the Association of Arab Universities, and Senator of the Upper House Jordan Parliament.
